There is a wild hustle and bustle on the roofs of the CECEBA Group. Four bee colonies, each with 50,000 employees, have found a new home on the roof of the company building. Ideal conditions. The nearby meadows and forests of the Swabian Alb offer sufficient space and food.

It is known that bees die in large numbers, but not everyone is aware of the effects this has on our environment. Albert Einstein once said: "If the bees disappear, man has only four years to live; no more bees, no more plants, no more animals, no more people".

The CECEBA Group wants to make a contribution and has launched the initiative "CECEBEE Bee Protection". In this way the winged world saviours shall be given shelter and space.

Set up bee-hotel

Even the living space for bees is shrinking! Take remedial action by hanging up an insect hotel for wild bees. There is enough space in the garden and on the balcony to set up a living space for these industrious animals. It is important to have a dry, wind-protected and sunny place. The bee hotel helps wild bees nesting in the wild.

Seed wild flowers

With a wildflower mixture for bees you can plant exactly the flowers in your garden that bees like and need. These include sunflowers, cornflowers and almond florets. Ready-made wildflower mixtures for bees are available in organic quality, e.g. from BUND, Bingenheimer Saatgut and threshing flails.

Make sure that these are native plants, as only these provide the bees with the right food. The garden may also look a little messy, because accurately cut grass instead of wild flower meadows makes it difficult for the bees to find food and nesting places.

Herb box for the balcony

Those who do not have their own garden can reach for the flower box. If you plant herbs there, you will also help the bees. The flowers of thyme, mint, basil, oregano and many other herbs are a great source of food for the bees. Alternatively, you can also plant a bee pasture of wild flowers in the flower box and thus do something good for the bees.

Buy organic food

Organic food helps the bees indirectly, as it is grown without chemical pesticides and fertilizers. So by buying organic fruit and vegetables you are promoting an agriculture without sprays, which can be dangerous for bees.

In addition, organic farms often rely on traditional agriculture with fallow land and alternating cultivation. Bees thus have more food sources.

Eating organic honey

Honey is honey? Far from it... also with honey there is mass beekeeping and ecological beekeeping. Organic beekeepers do not use chemical bee medicines and do not use pollen from genetically modified plants.

Organic beekeepers usually only use mixed honey instead of variety honey such as rape honey. This is because beekeepers value plant diversity and do not place their bees in a monoculture, such as a rape field

Set up bee-drinkers

The bees are also thirsty in summer and are happy to get some water. You can set up a bee drinker for them - in the garden or on the balcony. All you have to do is place a bowl of water and a few flat stones in it.

The stones help the bees to crawl out of the water more easily. It is best to place the bowl next to the bee hotel or bee pasture.
